Catching Up

There always seems to be cards to catch up early in January. Thank you's and early birthdays. This year is no exception.
Today I popped a birthday card in the post to one of my team who has a birthday.  I used Dragonfly Dreams in shades of pool party and crumb cake, it has a softer look than this photo implies.

I've also been making quite a few thank you cards and still haven't managed to mail them all.
This one went today, it's using one of our new small narrow note cards and a stamp from Sale-a-bration called Heartfelt Blooms. It's a brand new Distinktive stamp. Distinktive? This is what Stampin' Up! has to say - "Our new Distinktive stamps lay down the ink at different opacities giving the finished image more depth - just ink the surface lightly for a perfect photographic finish." Here I've teamed it up with a retired 'thanks' embellishment.

Inspiration is all around us. I recently travelled on the underground and one of the posters really jumped out at me. I wasn't at all interested in the product, it was the colourway that spoke to me.
You may have seen me post this image -

Here's the advert -

Great! I loved the colours. I began to make cards but changed my mind and softened the turquoise down to pool party with a pop of tangerine tango (it was the striped sock in the advert that did it!), font in black, all on a regular sized white note card.

I'm afraid that I forgot to take photo's until they were already bagged and ready to go.
Here is a close up of the leaves. I used some of the new Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes to emulate dew drops on the leaves. These stickers are a small mixed pack of round (bubbles) and drops (think dew drops, rain drops, drips) which are great used on the stamped bottle images which are in the Bubble Over stamp set. But are not restricted for use to that single stamp set.

I made another as a thank you note on one of the new narrow note cards. As you can see, this stamp, whilst it's not tiny, will work well on both sizes of note card.

Whilst scrolling through my phone I found a photo of another card made some time ago which I haven't shared with you. Yes, it uses a retired stamp set and sentiment die but is a simple design which could be used with other stamps.

I'm now hoping that I've caught up so will close this post today by sharing the last 3 Christmas card photos I have.
The first two are slight variations of the same card and are those that I sent to family. One with a glitter tree -

The other with a tree from silver foil card -

Here you can see them together -

A couple of people have asked me how I did the background so I'll pop back on here with more information.

The final card is again using the deer die from Carols of Christmas. I added patterned metallic DSP on which to mount it and the lush metallic washi tape (both sadly retired!) .

Recognise the embossed oval that the deer is mounted on? Yes, It's one of the parts that I removed from the previous cards!
I hope you get plenty of craft time this week, it's a good reason to snuggle indoors away from the wind!
