Encircled In Warmth

Another month, and another of our Just For Fun classes last week. We used the seasonal stamp set Encircled In Warmth which is a set of sentiments. Along with the SAB patterned paper (Peaceful Prints) and Be Dazzling sequin paper, we made 3 regular A6 sized cards and a pinwheel tower card.

Most of the A6 sized pinwheel tower cards that I've seen have the tower measuring 14.8cm high with narrow panels. I turned ours in the other direction. Our tower was only 10.5cm in height but this gave us slightly wider panels.

Birds Eye View

Our base is sahara sand. The dimensions for the tower are 10.5cm x 11cm. Placing the card in landscape mode on your trimmer, score down at 2.5, 5, 7.5 and 10cm. Fold each score line well, add glue to the 1cm strip at the end and glue to the opposite end. This will give you a tower that is 10.5cm in height and each side is 2.5cm.

Cut 4 pieces of sahara sand 10.5 x 7.4cm and glue one to each side of the tower following the same direction with each piece you stick on.

Two opposite sides were decorated like this

We then decorated it simply with DSP in shades of green. The sizes for the DSP are as follows - 4 @ 4.4 x 10cm and 4 @ 6.9 x 10cm. We added sequin paper, stamped sentiments, snowflakes and a few sequins to embellish.

Our second card has a real red card base with a basic white mat. A piece of DSP has been cut into 1.5cm strips and adhered to the mat. We stamped the large sentiment in real red ink onto basic white, die cutting with a circle from the Layering Circles dies. Before adding to our card mat we cut one snowflake in half and placed it behind the sentiment circle. Guess who managed to get ink onto the white mat!

Our third card is made using a similar technique with the DSP. We started with a white card base on top is a red mat. Our DSP has been trimmed to size, towards the bottom section one of the deer is a focal point. We trimmed the DSP just above the deer's head then cut another 3cm strip, this left a 3rd (narrow strip). All 3 pieces were adhered to the mat, leaving a little space in between each piece. The snowflakes are iridescent on one side, white on the reverse. We covered the white side in Memento Tuxedo Black ink with a sponge. This coordinates well with the black snowflakes on the patterned paper. We then stamped a sentiment onto a 2.5cm wide strip of basic white card. The snowflake was glued to the middle piece of DSP on the card front and then the sentiment is layered over the top with dimensionals.

Finally, we took a sahara sand card base and a basic white mat. After trimming a piece of patterned paper to size, we cut it into four pieces and glued it the the mat, leaving a space in between each piece. We added a small length of the beautiful White Glittered Organdy Ribbon. This ribbon is so pretty it reminds me of fairies! Onto this we layered a diecut sequin circle, a snowflake and finished with a sentiment which has been heat embossed in white onto a circle of sahara sand card.

By adding two Cloche Shaker Domes and some twine to to some of the scraps remaining, I made a cute little hanging shaker embellishment that can go either onto my tree or used as gift tag - how cute is that! I do need to neaten the fussy cutting.

I can't believe that we're almost out of October and into November - that's scary! I'll be back with more class cards to share soon. If you'd like to view any of the products used in this post or to order then simply click on the image in the product list below.
