Playing With Blends

Yesterday I saw some super cards made by Cheryl Algie, a demo friend from Australia. It's ages since I played with alcohol ink and, having seen Cheryl's cards, it inspired me to get crafting. It was such fun!

The piece that I chose for today's card was made by scribbling carious Stampin' Blends onto vellum and then gently tapping alcohol (isopropanoisopropyl alcohol) over the area. Since Stampin' Blends are alcohol based ink, the colour disperses when the isopropyl is tapped on top. It dries very quickly. You can use as many colours as you wish but take care, too many colours can end up being muddy together. I've used the finished piece as a background on my simple shaker card.

The whale stamp is from the Whale Done set. I created the grasses, reeds and coral using dies - Smooth Sailing and also the tree die from Sweet Silhouettes to make the coral. These had a little Wink of Stella added to give a subtle sparkle. The ribbon trim is the very pretty Pool Party Sheer Ribbon which is super fine and has a lovely shimmer.

Unfortunately my photo isn't too good, I really should learn not to take them in the early hours!

All that's needed now is a sentiment!
