Challenge Card

Today's card is one I made for the SU Colour Challenge group on social media. To be honest, whilst I'm happy enough with the card, it certainly doesn't blow you away and I'm not sure it meets the standard of the other cards I've seen so far. But, I've made it and it's staying as it is! Here is the colourway we were to use.

I used our blending brushes and torn paper to create an inked strip with the three challenge colours, masking the area where the sun would be, then inking that after. I added a green leafy stem with a stamp from the Field of Flowers stamp set. Then I accidentally smudged ink on the white space. Not wishing to ink up again, I tore the strip away, trying to keep to the original rough edges. This was stuck onto clean white card. I ran the whole piece through the Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine in the Subtle embossing folder to give texture, before stamping the flower heads onto daffodil delight cardstcok with the same colour ink, then fussy cutting and adding to the card front on stampin' dimensionals. The embossing folder not oinly gave texture, it also made the card front appear to have been created from one piece of card and not two!

I added Wink of Stella to the flower heads which, I think, you can just about spot on the photo below.

The sentiment is from the Life is Beautiful stamp set which I masked before stamping to enable me to separate the first word and the remaining part of the sentiment as I knew I wanted to mount them separately. In addition I heat embossed the words.  Since we don't stock garden green embossing powder I used my Stamapratus to achieve the appearance I wanted. First I stamped in garden green then stamped over the words again but in Versamark, heat embossing with clear embossing powder. I used the Stitched Rectangles dies to cut, these were mounted on stampin' dimensionals.
As always, there is a list of the products I used at the foot of this post. To view any or to shop online, click on the image. Want everything? Simply click the 'Add to Cart' button.

I'm hoping that my card is a glimpse of summer sun peeping through to brighten our day!

Back again this weekend to share more crafty creations with you.
