Garage Gears Training Swaps


A fortnight ago I attended training held by my Upline, Natalie, in Crawley. These are held several times a year and most of us participate in a card swap on the day.
For my swap I chose to use the Garage Gears Thinlits dies. You may have seen from my last post that these are part of my favourite bundle in the Spring Summer catalogue.
I knew which colourway I wanted to go with as I'd recently earned a free pack of luscious foil sheets from the Saleabration (SAB) catalogue when I placed an order over £45. The colours of the sheets are Lovely Lipstick and Mango Melody. My colour choice was Mango Melody  to give a metallic look, on a Basic Black card base. 
It was quite difficult to take a photo showing the true colour of the foil card as it takes on rainbow shades when the light shines upon it.

First I die cut using the largest gear die and a scrap of card. I used this card as a mask and daubed Copper Shimmer paint through it onto the black card, moving the mask until I'd covered a lot of the black. Now, this may have been a mistake as we're only supposed to use current product on our swaps and I've just discovered that the Bright Copper is discontinued although we still sell Frost White and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. How did I miss that???
My next step was to die cut lots of the gears, in all sizes, from the foil card and add them to the card base.
Finally I used Versamark ink and copper embossing powder to create a sentiment with a stamp from the Geared Up Garage stamp set. This was cut into a strip and one end 'fed through'  a die cut shape in Mango Melody card. This die is also in the Garage Gears set.
I loved the final piece which was quite difficult to photograph because,as I said before, when the light caught on the foil it gave off rainbow colours.
