Cracked Glass Card

Another day, another birthday!
Yet again I was flying by the seat of my pants. I had a good excuse reason, my Dad had had a heart attack only a couple of weeks beforehand and I was travelling to a from the hospital most days, that aside, I still needed to get that card in the post. Well, I had to make it first.
Two weeks ago I took delivery of a small pre order of goods from the upcoming catalogue.  Now, I'm very keen on one of our new in Colours. It reminds me of a retired In Colour - Lucky Limeade, which I just LOVED! Due to it's demise, it's now forever known in my craft room as Unlucky Limeade. So, imagine my delight when I spotted new Lemon Lime Twist!
I set out to make this birthday card using the zingy new colour with absolutely no idea of what I would create.
The final card ended up with a 'cracked glass' centrepiece. The sentiment is from another new product - a stamp set called Just Add Text. I managed to incorporate all 5 of the new In Colours by die cutting them into circles with the Stitched Shapes Framelits. and adhering them to the front of the card.
In the centre I cut a square aperture through which you can see the cracked glass sentiment panel. The panel is watercolour paper with inks applied randomly. The sentiment has been heat embossed in gold, the whole panel was covered in versamark and clear embossing powder then heat embossed. Repeat the versamark and clear powder a few times. Flatten the panel to make the cracks appear. By putting the versamark and clear powder over the top of the embossed sentiment, the sentiment 'melts' slightly and the gold takes on a slightly greenish hue.
Open up the card, the area around the sentiment panel is stamped in the In Colours inks and a flower stamp from another new stamp set - Colourful Seasons.
But where to stamp or write your greeting - the back of the card? Not in this case. This card consists of 3 panels. I recently saw a card made like this by Lynn Starzl - a seascape - and loved her finished project. It inspired me to have a go!
Lift up the inside -
A stamped greeting and a place to write your good wishes. The 'Oh Happy day' stamp is from a retiring set - Scenic Sayings. I think it goes well with the other sentiment which says 'May all your tomorrows be as happy as today'.
Of course, you need a matching envelope too!

I'm really rather pleased with this card and sooo enjoyed making it! I hope you like it too!
