December's Just For Fun Class

This month's class was a little different. usually we focus on a stamp set/theme etc., making four cards.
Since we can't escape Christmas (would we really want to?!), the theme was obvious, but rather than make our 4 cards we made a small scene to go into a frame and, for those who finished, decorated a silver gable box.
The scenic picture was primarily made using the Farmhouse Christmas stamp set along with the Farmhouse Framelits dies (Farmhouse Christmas bundle).

First I stamped the background trees (Winter Woods stamp set) onto white card using Grey Granite ink then I ran the card through the Bigshot with the Softly Falling TIEF embossing folder. The three trees near the house, the house and the truck were stamped and die cut.
The house and truck are coloured in using Stampin' Blends. The pen colours are Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, Mossy Meadow, Smokly Slate, Basic Grey and Basic Black.
The garden fence is die cut in Smoky Slate card. I really like this die!
I then assembled and glued everything apart from the truck. I used Fine Tip Glue on the truck and left it to dry overnight. The glue gives the truck a gloss, shiny finish. Once dry I attached this to the front of the glass using a double layer of Stampin' Dimensions.
The sentiment 'Merry Christmas' was die cut using the Merry Christmas Thinlits dies which I'd bought as part of the Merry Christmas To All bundle. The words were glued to the front of the frame. Layering like this gives the finished piece extra dimension.

The silver gable box (a pack of 8 available from the main catalogue) is decorated here and will hold a small gift, a home baked treat or even a few sweets and chocolates. The ladies were given various sheets of Christmas DSP and silver glimmer paper to decorate their boxes. Here is mine. I did bling it up a little later on.

The images on the sides of the box have been fussy cut from Santa's Workshop DSP.

So, that now brings Christmas 2018 firmly to a close.
